Help Immigrants Build Their English Skills in Dupont Circle!
Every year since 2009, RPCV/W chooses a local non-profit organization to be the focus of our community service, programming, and fund-raising efforts in what we call the Partnership for Peace. This year, our Partner for Peace is Language, Education, and Technology Center (Language ETC), a community-based program offering English and literacy training to low-income adult immigrants in the greater Washington area using volunteer teachers and tutors.
For our December Community Service event, we will be working with their adult students on Job Tips and having a Conversation Club - a great way for their students practice their English in a comfortable and fun setting! Themes such as current events, music, debates, etc. are great ways to help these students improve their language skills.
We need volunteers for leading:
We will head out to lunch in the Dupont area following the event.
